ITEC Day- Online celebrations of 56th anniversary

The High Commission of India, Dhaka is happy to announce that the 56th ITEC Day is going to be celebrated world over on 15 September 2020. Every year High Commission of India Dhaka celebrates the Day in big way with cultural programmes, short film screening, experience sharing etc. However, in this year due to Covid-19 pandemic ITEC Day is being celebrated through online mode by organizing social media events.

The ITEC , a flagship programme of the Government of India, was instituted in 1964 as part of India’s development Assistance Programme offering developing countries the benefit of India’s development experience. Every year more than 10000 training slots are offered to more than 160 partner countries for training courses in various areas like Accounts, Audit, Management, SME, Rural Development, Parliamentary Affairs etc. Bangladesh is our foremost and valued partner under the ITEC Cooperation.

Over 4000 young Bangladeshi professionals have undergone short term and medium term courses in India under ITEC programme since 2007. These training programmes provide an opportunity to share our best practices with the brightest brains and India equally benefits from the developmental experience of Bangladesh.

In the year 2020, certain specialized e-ITEC courses on COVID-19 management strategies were organised for health-care Professionals and Administarors working in the field in Bangladesh. An exclusive e-ITEC Bangla course for COVID-19 was organized by AIIMS Buhubaneshwar in which over 150 trainees participants from all over Bangladesh. Another online training for Provincial and District level administrative heads on ‘Good Governance Practices in a Pandemic’ was organized by the National Center Good Governance, Mussoorie. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur organised an e-ITEC course for Healthcare professionals in which more than ninety health care professional from Bangladesh participated.

Keeping in view the popularity of ITEC in Bangladesh, the High Commission of India, Dhaka is planning to celebrate the ITEC Day in a formal manner after the situation around COVID-19 is normalized.
