Advocacy meeting on sanitation Rights of urban poor and MHM

An Advocacy meeting was held on 17 October 2020 at Dhamrai Paurashava Seminar Room on “sanitation Rights of urban poor and Menstrual Hygiene Management “jointly arranged by Coalition For the Urban Poor (CUP) and Dhamrai Paurashava, Supported by UST -WSSCC.

Md. Golam Kobir, Mayor, Dhamrai Paurashava was the chief guest of the meeting. Masuda Farouk Ratna, Freedom fighter & Executive Director, GBSS presided the meeting. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Human Rights Development Centre (HRDC) Mr. Mahbul Haque participated as guest of honor in the event.

Ms Khondker Rebaka Sun Yat Executive Director, CUP moderated the session. A paper on Sanitation Rights of Urban Ultra Poor and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM): An Observation on Dhamrai Pourasabha was presented by Mahmur Rashid, adviser, CUP. Ward councilors of Dhamrai paurashava, civil society representatives, teachers, journalist, activist, human rights activist, students etc.

were also participated in the meeting. Mayor Md Golad Kobir expressed his solidarity with the Coalition For the Urban Poor (CUP) for arranging the advocacy meeting for the rights of ultrapoor peoples and girls and young women regarding the issue of Menstrual Hygiene Management.

He committed that he should arrange some event for creating mass awareness raising among the peoples of Dhamrai Paurashava on the issues of the rights of sanitation and MHM soon at institutional level, individuals and CSOs level.
