A Dhaka University male teacher was reportedly found along with his female colleague at his room locked from inside in the university's Arts Faculty Building on Saturday, reports UNB.

Akib Ul Huque, an assistant professor of Psychology department, and Umme Kawser, a lecturer of Educational and Counseling Psychology department, were found in room No. 349 which was locked from inside, alleged Akib's wife.

She said, "I called Akib around 1:00pm over phone, but he didn't receive my call. I guessed something wrong and then I moved to the campus and found his room locked from inside."

"Akib opened the door after I knocked on the door for at least 10 minutes and fled the scene quickly, but Umme Kawser couldn't escape," alleged Akib's wife who refused to disclose her name.

She later locked the room from outside confining Umme Kawser for nearly two hours.

On information, a proctorial team of the university appeared at the spot and rescued the female teacher breaking the door. "I'll file a written complaint in this regard with the university authorities," Akib's wife said.

Contacted, DU proctor Prof Golam Rabbani said, "I've heard about it but I'm not clear what happened actually there. The university administration will investigate the incident."

UNB's Dhaka University correspondent tried to reach Akib and Umme Kawser over their cell-phones. While Umme Kawser's phone went unanswered, Akib's one was found switched off.

Later, Umme Kawser called him back.

When asked about the matter, she said, "Akib sir and I have been working jointly on a thesis. I went to his room to discuss it. Suddenly, Akib sir's wife appeared at the room and started shouting. Later, Akib sir left the room and his wife locked me in the room from outside."

"I don't know what happened between Akib sir and his wife. Earlier, I heard that the couple has been at loggerheads. I don't know why I was humiliated," Kawser said while talking to UNB over phone.

Earlier, on 5 August, Akib and Umme Kawser were held at the same room of the Arts Faculty Building for the same offence.
