Education Minister commends the role of the UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova

Bangladesh Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid M.P. praises the role of UNESCO Director General Ms. Irina Bokova in various issues for taking the position of this UN organisation to a new height in her tenure of last eight years. Today Mr. Nahid made a call on with Ms. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO at her office at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

He also conveyed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's good wishes with appreciation for her continuous support and cooperation towards Bangladesh with a special emphasis on Bokova's contribution in inscribing the historic 7th March Speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Register of the Memory of the World (MoW). The Director General also commended the wonderful leadership role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in bringing Bangladesh to a significant position at the national level and international arena.

Ms. Irina Bokova will be leaving the position of the UNESCO Director General on 10th November this year, after discharging her responsibilities for last eight years.

Education Minister Mr. Nahid was accompanied by Mr. Md. Sohorab Hossain, Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education, H.E. KaziImtiaz Hossain, Bangladesh Ambassador to France, Mr. Md. Monjur Hossain, Secretary, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO among others. It is to be mentioned that Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid M.P. is leading the Bangladesh delegation to the ongoing 39th Session of the UNESCO General Conference.
