Robi organizes Career Carnival in Chittagong University

Leading mobile operator, Robi has organized its campus based career orientation event, Robi Career Carnival at the Chittagong University yesterday. The day-long event brought about a festive atmosphere in the university campus with active participation from the students.

Robi’s Chief Corporate & People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad and Chittagong University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Iftekher Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the programme in the morning. Chittagong University’s Dean of Business Faculty, Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Aurongazeb was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the students, Robi’s Chief Corporate & People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad said that, “Robi is in the middle of a transformation journey to become the next generation digital company. This means that we are rethinking every aspect of our business and incorporating digital solutions to achieve our vision. This exercise requires fresh thinking, creative energy, dedication and hard-work. We are confident that through our engagement with you in this event, we would be able to ascertain how you could help us in our pursuit for digital excellence.”

Mr. Nowshad thanked the university authority for their whole-hearted cooperation in organizing the career event in the Chittagong university campus.

The Robi Career Carnival event in Chittagong University was the first in a series of two such other events to be held in universities located in the port city. Today, the event is taking place in Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
Vice-Chancellor of CUET, Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam inaugurated the career event at the campus in the morning today. East Delta University located in Chittagong will be hosting the Robi Career Carnival event tomorrow, Tuesday, 14th November.

Throughout the day-long event in Chittagong university, Robi’s senior management officials shared their career experience with the students. Robi’s Vice President, Resourcing and Employer Branding, Zaved Parvez appraised the students about career opportunities at Robi. He also outlined the expectation of Robi management in terms of what the company expects from their leaders in the context of digital transformation journey.

Mr. Zaved informed the students that Robi has recently been conferred with the Bangladesh Best Employer Brand Award by World HRD Congress. He explained in detail how Robi achieved this prestigious accolade and why it was so important for the company to win this award to meet its business objectives.

Robi’s Cluster Market Director for Eastern Cluster, Nazir Ahmed briefed the students about how to build a career in sales. He shared many of his own career experiences with the students to help them develop right mental attitude for becoming a successful career in sales.

General Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Didarul Alam discussed the prospects of pursuing an alternative career with the students. In his session, he urged the students not to limit their career in only one discipline rather he suggested them to look for opportunities to explore new career avenues. He also shared his personal experience of evolving as a corporate professional through undertaking different roles and responsibilities throughout his career.

General Manager, External Communication, Ashikur Rahman Habibe Rabbi also took a special session named Internet4U where he explained how the students could utilize Internet to bring about positive changes to their lives rather than wasting time on Internet with frivolous activities. Students made these sessions very interactive with their active participation. The Internet4U is a Corporate Responsibility initiative of the company to encourage the youth of the country to embrace internet as a tool to develop themselves.
At the end of the programme, a quiz competition was held. As part of Robi’s recruitment process, a written exam was also held at the end of the event. Robi Career Carnival event is one of the key initiatives undertaken by the company to establish Robi as the most preferred employer brand among the fresh talents from the premiere universities of the country.

It is through such an initiative, continues to draw the best talents of the country who are proudly contributing to the sustained success of the company over the years. In future, the event will also be organized in many other leading universities of the country.
