EWU Holds a Discussion Meeting on Bangabandhu, Spirit of Liberation War and Constitution

The Department of Law of East West University (EWU) in celebration of the University’s 21st anniversary organized a discussion meeting titled “Bangabandhu, Muktijuddher Chetona Ebong Shangbidhan” (Bangabandhu, Spirit of Liberation War and Constitution) on 20 November 2017 at the EWU campus, Aftabnagar, Dhaka.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapash, M.P was the chief guest of the program. In his speech, Barrister Tapash obsered that, the proclamation of independence is the foundation of the legal framework of our independence.

He noted that, the historic speech of 7th March in 1971 of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been recognized by the UNESCO as the Memory of the World. He urged young students to enlighten them through the spirit and aspiration of the Liberation War and independent Bangladesh and learn about Bangabondhu’s 7th march spirit and its bearing on our constitution.

The Vice-Chancellor of EWU, Professor Dr. M M Shahidul Hassan was the special guest of the meeting. The Chairperson of the Department of Law, Professor Dr. Tureen Afroz presented a concept paper on the theme. In her concept paper she expressed that, the four fundamental principles of our Constitution, namely, nationalism, socialism, democracy and secularism were lucidly depicted in the speech of 7th March.

The meeting was presided over by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of EWU, Professor Dr. Fakrul Alam. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, the Chairperson of Board of Trustees, EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Saidur Rahman Lasker, Member of Board of Trustees, EWU, along with the faculty members and students of the Departments of Law was present in this discussion meeting.
